Maria A. Ortega, born April 28, 1967 is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Security Works Inc/A.M.O.R.E (Assisting Minorities Obtain Results Expeditiously).  She was the first NYS Division of Criminal Justice Security Guard School, approved and operated by a Hispanic female.

Ms. Ortega, was born in New York City, and is of Spaniard and Cuban descent.  She graduated with a Master of Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Belford University 2006, and a B.A from  American College of Forensic Examiners Institute 2003

Ms. Ortega has over twenty years in Law Enforcement and the private sector    Ms. Ortega was approved by New York State as a Security guard trainer in 1993, and  a New York State approved School Director since 1994, Thru her tenure with Burns International she was responsible for the day to day operations of the New York City Shelter Security force in which she oversaw over 40,000 security guard hours weekly.  She was also an intricate part of the Security at Yankee Stadium and the U2 concert at Madison Square Garden. In 1995 she was part of the undercover team for Ex-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani at the event held at Yeshiva University in New York City. While employed by Command Security Inc., Ms. Ortega managed the recruitment, training, and scheduling of all security guards providing services for the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York City.

In 1999 Ms. Ortega became President/CEO of Security Works Inc., providing training & placement as a sub-contractor to Curtis & Associates Inc., with the New York City Human Resources AdministrationW2W & SAJP contract, she was able to place 90% of all participants trained. In 2000 she was awarded a sub-contract with Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and New Jersey and Curtis and Associates Inc for the ESP contracts awarded by New York City Human Resources Administration, in which she was able to train and place 96% of all participants sent by Goodwill and 100% of all participants sent by Curtis & Associates.  

Ms. Ortega was recognized by The Strathmore’s “Who’s Who” distinguished achievement in major professions throughout the United States in 1998 and 1999.  She was recognized with the Rising Star Award from New York State Department of Labor, Latino Job Service Employer Committee for excellence, growth and assisting the community 2000. In 2001 Ms Ortega, was elected as the Chairperson for the New York State Department of Labor, Latino Job Service Employer Committee,  Ms. Ortega was recognized in the Marquis 21st Edition of  Who’s Who in America and honored in the Global Directory of Who’s Who in 2004.  Ms. Ortega was awarded a B.A. Homeland Security Level III status from the American College of Forensic Examiners International as of April, 2004.

Ms. Ortega  holds memberships with:  The American Society for Industrial Security, US Woman’s Chamber of Commerce, the Presidential Task Force, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, The National Association of Chiefs of Police, and New York State Division of Labor JSEC division in which she hold the position of Chairperson.
